MP Consulting (MPC) has acquired the assets of Pluie, the company behind the world’s first self-sanitizing diaper changing table and a portfolio of family-focused products. The acquisition includes the Pluie brand, intellectual property, product portfolio, and customer relationships. Pluie’s founder, Addie Gundry, and Co-Founder Brittany Hizer will remain involved through the transition to ensure continuity for customers and partners, and will continue to support the brand in a consulting capacity.
Every parent knows the moment: you’re out in the world with your baby, a diaper needs changing, and the changing table in front of you makes you wince. Pluie was founded in 2020 to make that moment better for every family, everywhere. The company’s flagship changing table features a patented UV-C sanitizing system that eliminates 99.9% of germs on the changing surface after every use, paired with design details built around what caregivers actually need. In six years, that idea became a category — Pluie appeared on ABC’s Shark Tank, earned a place on TIME’s Best Inventions list, and built commercial relationships with CVS Pharmacy, Simon Property Group, Graduate Hotels, and franchise groups of Texas Roadhouse and Culver’s. With the Pret, its portable changing clutch, the brand grew beyond the wall entirely, bringing clean, dignified diaper changes to the park, the plane, and the back seat.
For Pluie, this acquisition is a homecoming. MPC and its principal, Mitul Patel, were Pluie’s original design partner and first manufacturer, working alongside Gundry and Hizer from the very first prototype — building the molds it was born from. This has given MPC a unique perspective and deep knowledge of the Pluie product. Still, the question may come up as to why an engineering and manufacturing consultancy would buy a brand outright?
Why MPC, Why Now
MPC has spent more than ten years as the engineering and manufacturing partner behind hundreds of client products – from consumer electronics and medical devices to industrial IoT and automotive systems. That volume of experience gives a rare vantage point. Working across so many companies, in so many stages of growth, the same pattern repeating starts to be seen: a genuinely great product, loved by the people who use it, challenged not by demand or design, but by production economics and manufacturing discipline. Pluie is a pattern we’ve recognized many times before. This time, instead of advising from the sidelines, MPC put our own expertise behind owning and growing the business.
That’s possible because MPC’s model has always spanned the full arc: concept, design, tooling, and manufacturing, rather than stopping at recommendations. Advising a client on manufacturing strategy and actually owning the manufacturing outcome are two different things, and this acquisition shows MPC applying our own playbook with full accountability for the result. It is a deliberate decision; of the hundreds of companies we’ve worked with, this is one where our own team already understood the product at the molding-and-tooling level, which is what made moving quickly and confidently possible.
What's Next
Under MPC’s ownership, the Pluie brand, product line, and existing customer and partner relationships will continue without interruption. MPC’s in-house engineering and manufacturing resources are expected to accelerate production, expand the commercial footprint, and grow the consumer portfolio, beginning with Pret and extending into new products built on the same idea Pluie was founded on: parenting out in the world should be easier, cleaner, and kinder. Gundry and Hizer will support the transition in a consulting capacity, continuing a collaboration with Patel that has spanned the life of the company.
In Their Own Words
“We are so proud of what Pluie has become. We took an idea that didn’t exist — a self-sanitizing changing table — and put it in front of millions of families through some of the biggest names in American retail and hospitality,” said Addie Gundry, Founder of Pluie. “This acquisition is the outcome you dream about as a founder: our product, our brand, and our mission moving into the hands of the team that helped us build it from the very first prototype. Mitul and his team can take Pluie further and faster than anyone, and Brittany and I will be right there supporting the transition every step of the way.”
“We believed in Pluie from the beginning,” said Mitul Patel, CEO, MP Consulting. “This is a category-defining product with proven demand from some of the most recognizable names in retail, real estate, and hospitality, and with Pret, a consumer brand parents genuinely love. With our engineering and manufacturing capabilities behind it, we can deliver Pluie tables at greater scale and lower cost, grow the consumer line, and bring self-sanitizing changing solutions to far more families. Addie and Brittany built something remarkable, and we intend to build on it.”
